Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini believes so, claiming widespread disillusionment with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is sweeping the state, and people are desperately seeking change. Addressing a rally in support of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Harjit Singh Sandhu, Saini stated that Punjab residents are fed up with what he describes as the “misrule” and unfulfilled “false promises” of the AAP government. He argues that the people are now yearning for genuine development and effective governance. Saini contrasts this with the BJP's track record under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. According to Saini, Modi's leadership has successfully steered India onto a path of rapid progress since 2014.
He further alleges that Punjab has suffered due to the failings of successive regional parties, accusing them of misleading the populace and preventing them from accessing the benefits intended for them by the central government over the past eleven years. And this is the part most people miss...the implication that previous administrations failed to adequately implement federal programs.
Saini didn’t hold back in his criticism of Punjab's current Chief Minister, Bhagwant Mann. He pointedly remarked that when Punjab's farmers were grappling with devastating floods, Mann allegedly sought medical attention in a hospital instead of directly addressing the crisis. He also criticized Arvind Kejriwal, the national convenor of AAP, for what he described as a quiet return to Delhi during the same period. Saini used this as an example of AAP leaders being out of touch with the needs of the people, especially during times of trouble.
But here's where it gets controversial... Saini specifically targeted AAP's unfulfilled promise to provide ₹1,000 per month to women. He highlighted that even after four years in power, this pledge remains unmet. He then contrasted this with the BJP government in Haryana, which he claims is already providing ₹2,100 per month to every woman. He also asserted that AAP’s promise of a ₹3,100 monthly pension has also fallen flat, with even the reduced sum of ₹1,500 not being consistently disbursed. In contrast, he stated that Haryana offers a ₹3,100 monthly pension to its citizens.
Adding fuel to the fire, Punjab BJP president Sunil Jakhar used the rally to accuse Congress president Raja Warring of displaying an “anti-Dalit mindset” through recent remarks made against the Scheduled Caste community. Jakhar further claimed that Congress leaders have essentially “surrendered” to AAP, motivated by self-preservation and a desire to shield themselves from pending legal cases.
